What does Yoowarni mean?

Yoowarni means to come together.

Pronounced ‘you-war-knee’, it translates to “one” and is utilised to express an understanding of unity and the integration of two worlds into one.

Language group:
Gooniyandi people from the North West of Western Australia.

Circles are often used to symbolise a meeting place and can hold significant meaning for different languages groups across Australia.

For Yoowarni Productions we have used the symbols to highlight significant moments and meeting places on the journey of creating Yoowarni Productions - this leads to the naming of each circle.

About Ice Cream Productions

Originated in 2018, Ice Cream Productions started with a dream; to become a beacon for change in an industry that has the power to alter the perspectives and views of Aboriginal people

We want to integrate our storytelling, provide a transfer of knowledge and reinstate control over our first nations narrative. Ice Cream Productions is about innovation and creativity, alongside our ancestral holistic ideologies that has allowed us to widen our scope as a company and develop projects in various industries that supports our mission.

The name Ice Cream is used in memory of co-founder Scott Wilson’s grandfather who passed in 2018. He was a respected man and station manager in Western Australia. One day, while mustering across the country a wild horse galloped into camp. A beautiful white horse, that Scott’s grandfather roped and called Ice Cream. A few days later a young boy at camp fell into a fire. The camp being so far from town they did not have medical supplies to support the severe burning of this young boy. Scott’s grandfather without hesitation put the boy on the back of Ice Cream and raced to the nearest town. The young boy spoke at my grandfather’s funeral and shared this story of how my grandfather saved his life. Ice Cream productions carries the memory of my grandfather and will uphold while sharing the integrity and values he stood for.
